Crossing times at the Puente Internacional Solidaridad Colombia are usually very fast, less than 20 minutes on most days of the week at any time, faster than other border crossings in the region.
On days and at times when the flow of vehicles increases, crossing times can be extended, typically up to an hour on weekends or holidays, and up to two hours in situations of very high vehicular influx.
The longest crossing times, 10 to 12 hours and even up to 13 hours, occur on weekends at the end of the winter vacation season when a large number of travelers from the United States are returning. You can contact us on our Facebook page for information on estimated crossing times, and you can also check these references:

In December 2019, 62,085 vehicles crossed the Puente Colombia from south to north and 34,045 vehicles from north to south; that month, we had a report of a traveler being assaulted while traveling at night on the riverside road and three car accidents, fortunately without injuries. Insecurity is a reality on Mexican roads, particularly in the country's northern border region. For us, the safety of our users is very important, in addition to the presence of authorities and a video surveillance system in our facilities, we make the following recommendations to travelers:
1. Travel only during the day, if you have to travel before dawn or at dusk, avoid doing so in the border strip by any road. The border strip is the territory between the international dividing line of the north of the country and a parallel line at a distance of 20 kilometers inland, the reference can be the old checkpoint at km 26 on the Federal Highway 85 Monterrey – Nuevo Laredo.
2. Respect speed limits, especially in the section from the cloverleaf to Puente III to the border of the State of Tamaulipas with Nuevo León, km 12 to 24, Traffic and Roads of Nuevo Laredo has a permanent operation in that section to fine vehicles that exceed the speed limit.
3. Refuel your vehicle sufficiently to avoid having to stop until you reach your destination, and if necessary, only stop at safe rest areas.
4. Travel on the toll highway to Monterrey, the toll is $265 Pesos and they only accept cash payment in national currency, but it is safer, the rest area at the toll booths is safe and has clean bathrooms, convenience store, restaurant, and gas station.
5. Use Google Maps or Waze to guide you to your destination and follow the instructions, they are very precise in distances and transit times. And don't forget to share your trip with a family member or friend for greater peace of mind.
6. At the Puente Colombia, we offer free Roadside Assistance within an approximate radius of 10 km from the Bridge, the phone number is 867 734 0149.
7. Remember that 911 is the number for emergency calls throughout the country and you can call even if your cell phone does not have a balance.
8. The number 074 is the contact through which you can request information about traffic conditions, weather status, rates, and routes of the highways operated by CAPUFE.
Foreign visitors planning to go further than 25 miles (about 40 km) inside the United States need to apply for a permit upon entering the country.
At the Colombia entry port, the I-94 permit can be requested, with the office hours being the same as those for the Puente Internacional Solidaridad Colombia, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight every day of the year.
The cost for an I-94 permit is $6. The permit can be issued for a maximum term of 6 months and for multiple trips to the United States.
Up to seven days before traveling to the United States, you can advance the I-94 process and payment online, instructions at this link: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home

Foreign vehicles require a permit to enter Mexico. At the Mexico Customs at the Puente Colombia, there is a Banjercito module where the process is carried out, and information on the requirements can be found at this link: https://www.banjercito.com.mx/registroVehiculos/
When leaving Mexico, the vehicle's return to the United States must be registered to recover the security deposit. Before reaching the toll booths at Puente Colombia, there is a Banjercito module to complete the registration.
Regardless of which Customs the vehicle entered through, the exit can be registered at this module. The operating hours for the Banjercito modules at the Puente Colombia are the same as those of the bridge, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day of the week.
